Book introduction:

‘Evening of Bhadra month. There are clouds in the sky. Reddish clouds. The
clouds don't rain, but they look beautiful. This dark red, this light yellow,
again in the blink of an eye mixes brown with red in a completely different
color. The one who is playing the game of color seems to be suffering from
indecision.'
This is the beginning of Humayun Ahmed's last
novel of four decades of colorful writing life, 'Deyal'. He started composing
'Deyal' in the middle of 2011. At that time, five episodes of the novel were
published consecutively in 'Another Day'. After a brief hiatus in the United
States, he resumed his work on the wall during his cancer treatment, although
he did not finally get the chance to finalize the novel.
The indecisiveness that is being talked about
in the opening paragraph is especially indicative. The time that has been used
in the 'walls' is a time of extreme uncertainty for the fate of a newly
independent nation. Some of the characters in the novel are taken from the
real, the names are all real, the events are also part of the reality. Since
the author wrote the novel, there are some fictional characters. The story has
revolved around them.
The search for the beauty of life and the
truth of life was not overshadowed by various incidents. The combination of the
truth of history and the author's creative thinking has turned the 'wall' into
a heartwarming episode.
